Notes:

  1. You will never have 100% validation for your product. You will never been certain. Even with validation, there will always be a shadow of doubt.
  2. The problem we are trying to solve is: “How are you going to get in front of your future customers?”
  3. Building is often the easy part. Talking to customers though on the other hand seems scary or can be.
    1. If you build it and they will come, won’t happen. You have to do the marketing and build the product at the same time.
  4. Market validation states “How hard is it to find people to talk to before you have a product?”
  5. Avoid investing months and months in building something that nobody wants.
  6. Getting something in the market fast might be better than spending time on validation.
  7. How do you know if an idea is validated? You don’t. An MVP is a framework to help you gain confidence in your creation. It’s not a blueprint, but a framework.
  8. Ways of validating:
    1. Landing Pages
      1. Setting up a Landing Page and directing people to it via Advertising or Social Media posts.
      2. Channels:
        1. Google Adwords
        2. Meta + Instagram Ads
        3. Tiktok Advertising
    2. Direct Outreach by contacting the marketmind or your ideal customer profile and asking them questions.
      1. Channels:
        1. Linkedin.com
        2. Email
        3. Zoom.
      2. Example: Jason Cohen (Founder of WP Engine) used the following three channels above.
  9. Rob got 11 individuals to say “Yes” to using the product if it was built. Jason Cohen got 44 “Yes’s” from individuals to try out WP Engine if were built.
    1. Range 11 to 44 seems to be a good range.

Part I → 2 hours Validation Process using the “5 P.M Framework”:

  1. 5 P.M. Idea Pre-validation Framework (Review Episode 628 to learn more from Startups For The Rest of us Podcast)
    1. Looking at the problem.
    2. The Purchaser
    3. The Pricing Model
    4. The Market
    5. Product-Founder Fit
    6. Pain to Validate
  2. SEO Keyword Research
    1. “Where are the public conversations where you can learn from?”
      1. Channels:
        1. Twitter
        2. Reddit
        3. Facebook Groups
    2. “Is there paid traffic you can drive?” not actually driving traffic yet, you are using SEO Keyword research tools trying to figure out “Are people talking about this pain point?”, “Where do they hang out?”, and “What kind of search traffic is available for the product that you’re trying to build?”
      1. Channels:
        1. Google
        2. Facebook
        3. YouTube
    3. If people are not searching for the product you are trying to create, you will have to seek them out. This will be a lot of cold outreach and making yourself visible in their spaces. (This happens in Part II)
    4. 2 hour validation allows you to validate many idea’s quickly.
